It's 2009, and I have made a few changes to my gear...and also my attitude this year; "Relax and Roll the ball"

I just got a new spare ball that is drilled with a regular conventional grip...and it (so far) seems to be helping me pick up spares shooting straight. But, the biggest thing that I have seen to help me is for me to take a more relaxed approach to my bowling. No tension...no "grabbing" the ball.

So far - it's working--

Last 3 league nights: 683, 756, and 670. Also, I have come close to shooting 300 twice with this new approach.

I will update this post next week...to see if "relaxing" will continue to help my game..

...till next week -

Chase

Tuesday Night, and it's position round. My team should have won 3, but I missed a 6-pin in the 10 frame...and left the door open for them to win the 2nd game...so we ended up "splitting".

I shot a bad 601...and missed a lot of easy spares tonight.

On another note, the new Complete NV is just too long to use a my "fire". It's still a good ball...but maybe I will have to learn a time to pull it out. My strike game is the least of my problems right now. I really need to learn how to make at least 95% of all my spares. Dannial Cohen told me tonight that I will have to start practicing...and also make up in my mind "how" I am going to approach EACH SPARE...and STICK TO IT!!!!. Then I will have my own spare system to always use the same way...over and over.

Had to do a "make-up" game this Sunday from Thursday Night. I shot 628. The 2nd game was a little ugly (180) because of splits. I shot "ok though.

The "new" Complete NV ball is still not working on oil. A few others at the center looked at the layout..and compared it to the original layout on my "old" Complete NV...and they noticed what they say are "major differences".

At this point I really don't know what to do with the ball. It is just a little "weak"...unless the lanes are dry. Just can't seem to "carry" with it.

Maybe it's time to try some Hammer Equipment or stronger Storm stuff.

Saturday - I bowled at the Midtown Sweeper...and did not cash. I bowled "ok", but not good enough to Place. The new Complete NV?...well, I was struggling with it (again). I did win 1st in a Sidepot and made some money in the brackets...but ONLY because I changed balls. I went back to the "cracked" NV...and shot the last 5 or 6 strikes with it out of the 1st game...and then shot the 1st 6 or 7 strikes in the 2nd game...for 268. So there is a BIG difference in the balls.

Oh well... it's all good. Hopefully after getting in 6 or 7 more games...the new ball will start to hook a little more.

Wednesday Night, My original Complete NV has cracked at the fingerholes...so, I tried to shoot with a "New Complete NV replacement ball" to end with 601....and struggled to get that. The ball is going waaaaaay toooooo long, and I have been told that the "surface" needs a track in it. Plus, I am not getting out of the new ball cleanly for some reason.

I'll see what happens this weekend at the Midtown Sweeper

Well, it's the 2nd week, and everything is still "a-ok" with the whole relaxed approach.
Tuesday Night I shot a clean 696 series.

The trick about this whole thing is to NOT get "lazy" with the shot and follow through.
