I guess I should have known it was going to be a crazy day when the buzzer went off - to say I fouled… *@^*!!! …what a way to start. See, today I got some of the best “humble pie” ever …with my LOWEST bowling score ever in a competition; 126 at the "Who Got Game (not me) Eliminator" tournament at Red Carpet Lanes. I must also mention that I was NOT bowling on the “typical house shot”. It was a “playable” shot, but it was still challenging (to me). And even though I was warned beforehand, I never figured it out….at least not on the left lane.

Anyway - I must admit, I have always wondered, “How do you bowl under 130 or 135? … if you are able to make at least a few spares?” Well, today I found out, and it’s actually kinda easy kids….just see, it went basically like this below (lol) –

After that first game, I felt really, really bad. See… now, it was no longer an issue about spending money on this event. It now became an issue of trying to see if I could figure out a way to 1. Get to the pocket on the left lane…2. Throw a decent game…and 3. Keep my head together after an embarrassing low scoring game 1st game. I managed to bowl a little better after that 126 game though (thanks Greg Black Jr. for the encouragement); 181 in the 2nd game (2 splits), and 183 the 3rd game (2 splits). I really could not figure the left lane out. I think I only had 1 or 2 strikes on the left lane in all 3 games.

Anyway – I did at least learn this - I am a long, long ways from understanding the art of adjustments, and different “pattern shots” etc for bowling. That’s why I have so much respect for the great bowlers like Greg Black and Isom when they are bowling on more challenging conditions…and still bowl well.

Oh well, they say you pay to learn…and I can truly say, “you got that right!!!”. As far as the 126 game goes… I guess it just happens like that sometimes.

Ps - On a very pleasant note, on the way home from the tournament, I did get some non-bowling-related, good financial news, so... Thank God!!!. If not for this, I would have been miserable the rest of this day....from bowling so badly. I think now I am going to spend less time (and money) in competitions...and more time practicing to get better.

Sheeesh, it seems I find new ways to bowl roller-coaster-up-and-down games in tournament (and league play).

At the Midtown thing I went 234 (missed 2 spares), 142 (missed 2 pares and splits), and then 299. The last game I shot 192. It's so frustrating because all I do when go practice is shoot at spares. I don't even practice striking. ...crazy.

Thanks. Dont feel that bad shot a 136 at forest park tournament last weekend. Thing is when you are not striking and you miss a spare that score goes way down. Gotta love this game.

lol, naaa, I just had some extra sales come in that was really unexpected. The program I use for the bowling scores is: BOWLINGSCORE MFC Application, ver 1.0.0.1 "Bowling Score Calculator" at http://public.csusm.edu/public_html/veres/
