Chasing Excellence - my personal score diary "Let Go, and Let GOD"

Just got a new ball; The Ebonite NV Complete.

1st game out of the box was 280... and I don't really know why...
Maybe it's that "new ball magic" or something...lol

But, tracking my scratch scores in league and tournament, they are:

632 Firecracker tournamnt
746 Stockbridge Tuesday Nite Trio
639 Metro Lanes Wed nite league
676 Stockbridge Tuesday Nite Trio
661 Metro Lanes Wed nite league

Note: ....having a little trouble with right-side spares. I guess it's back to work on my spare-making.

Spent Saturday, Aug 2, 2008 to go and work on my spare-making... shooting straight and flat. Made a little progress (i think). I went and pot-bowled on Sunday and broke even.

726 (3 games) 242 avg.
929 (4 games) 232 avg.
834 (4 games) 208 avg. (lanes were a little too dry...lol)

(Aug 5, 08)
582 Stockbridge Tuesday Nite Trio.
Note: Didn't really bowl bad, just not a lot of strikes... :(.. and a few splits didn't help the night either.

631 Metro Lanes Wed nite league
Note: 175, 231, 225 ....I took too long to make an adjustment on the left lane (a little dryer than the right) that worked. The lane was broken before we started bowling, so I never got to throw a few practice shots on the left side lane.

The End...LOL. I will have to continue this when I can start back "Chasing Excellence" again. Right now... I simply do NOT have the time to practice, and will have to get back on top of things in 2009 or late late December.

Till then... take care.......

641 - Realbowlers - Metro Real Money League
(i forgot the scores....LOL)

I had a bad first game...with 3 splits (2 pocket). The 2nd game was in the 220s...and the 3rd was in the 240s. That's all I remember... except the fact that my team got beat again...except the 2nd game. :). I wanted to bowl this weekend in the tournament, but I have 3 different outings that I have to go to..so I may have to sit out this weekend...:(
lol...oh - its all good.

590 - Fulton Finest Jackpot @ Forest Park Funbowl
(211, 162, 217)

I fought with the lanes tonight...and I lost...LOL. I was rolling the ball pretty good, but didnt make the right adjustments quick enough. I also need some work on making double-wood spares like the 2-8. I missed this 2 times in the 1st game.

Overall, the night was not as bad as it appears... but could have been much better. My team loss again... (silence) Oh well...

I am glad I dont do this for a living.

682 - Tue Night - Pin Strikes - Stockbridge
(199, 214, 269)

I bowled ok. I did a little experimenting tonight that was ugly in the first game... but overall I shot pretty cool. I also missed a ten-pin tonight and chopped a spare.

My team still got beat in the first and 2nd game...and that isn't cool, but next week is another week to get it right.

617 - Realbowlers - Metro Real Money League
(243, 165, 209)

I bowled "on-and-off" tonight. The first game I felt like I had a pretty good "look" at where to throw the ball...and I did... even though I had to play the left lane straight up 8, and the right lane "right around 11 or 12". I rolled the ball good, and I stayed clean for a 243...which really could have been a 248, but I experimented with my last "fill-shot" in the 10th to see if I could find another line to play for the next game...and only got a 5 count...LOL (oh well

Game 2...man - the "carry-down started, but the front dried up. And on top of that I "chopped" a spare and had 2 splits. The first game shot was GONE...and I spent the whole game trying to make adjustments... to fight for 165. Of course this knocked me completely out of all brackets too...sheeeesh.

3rd game, I changed balls (Original NV)...And decided to play a completely different area...playing deeper around 15...and that was working out pretty cool. I was a little tired though, so I pulled a few shots...but still managed 209.

Sad thing (again)...my team seemed to be completely off...and we got swept. I do not get it. This same group of people bowled great in the summer...but now, we are probably in last place.

Oh well, i have work to do...and have decided to NOT go bowling until next Tuesday. I need the practice, but the bowling is taking up toooooo much time right now.

611 - Wed Fultons Finest - Forest Park
(237, 169, 205)

I bowled an ugly 611 tonight. I missed a lot of easy spares, and I hope I will soon become a better spare shooter. I have so many “mechanics” that are bad, that it may be later than sooner before I start seeing more constancy in my bowling. ..and not making an excuse, but maaaan, I had only had 5 hrs sleep from yesterday...and my body was tired.

At some point, I believe it would be beneficial to start getting to the gym again too... not just for bowling, but just to have better body strength in general. But, I also know I have to find a way to get a little more rest. I basically have toooooo much going on in my business stuff right now... and the bowling thing is taking up too much time.

Anyway - My team got beat again…and that is more discouraging than my personal bowling. I wish it was different, but that’s just how it is (so far) on Wednesday Night. I hope things start changing for the team I am on.

652 - Tuesday Nite at Pinstrikes - Stockbridge, GA
(203, 180, 269)

Bowled pretty eratic tonight. The shot was not hard, but I am missing too many spares. I am having a little trouble with my spare ball right now.. with the thumb hole. I was not able to have this ball done with the "switch grip" system because it is plastic... so when my thumb swells (or shrinks) ..getting out of the ball clean is basically like rolling dice... I have no idea what's going to happen. I have to start experimenting with tape I guess.

The last game (269) was great though (i think I was mad about shooting 180...LOl). I should have shot 279, but I got a little "soft" on one of the shots in the 9th frame.

BUT...HEY, my team won all the games...and that's GREAT...and makes me HAPPY, HAPPY...HAPPY!!..LOL

I let myself down today simply because I experienced the difference between "Knowing the path...and WALKING the path"... lol. In other words, hey - I actually KNEW where to play the lanes today with the way I bowl... and it was working beautifully. BUT, without consistent execution... “Knowing the path is simply NOT ENOUGH”…

There is no way that I should have NOT made the top 10... but honestly - and not making any excuses... I started pulling the ball... and felt my energy simply disappear ( was even yawning).

I came out the box with 216, and then a good 190. But - After the 2nd game... I knew inside of me that I was in trouble because I felt tired and even a little sleepy...and it started showing. I started missing spares...and I stopped following through EVERYTHING...I mean just yuk -yuk -lol...yuk!!!!. my 3rd game was 151, and the last was 158 (i think)

But you know what? Today let me know that eventually - I'll be able to compete a little, and maybe eventually I'll even place in one of these type of tournaments. I have no doubt now that I am capable of at least “showing up” in a singles scratch competition.

Oh well, I'm too tired to type...so I'm out. Bowling on a sports condition is also mentally exhausting...trust me.

583 - Fall Scratch Fest Tournament
(190, 169, 224)

Man-o-man-o-maaaaann... this was really tough. First of all...hey, I made the cut, and I am very happy. But, I was also very lucky and got some good breaks in the last game.

The lane guy told me that they used a long flat 40-foot oil pattern that was similar to the PBA US Open thing or whatever...and you really didn't have much room for error. I saw a lot of low scores too...from a lot of GREAT Bowlers. So, I am very thankful that I at least will advance to the semi-finals. Cool thin - I did cover my spares...which they say in a tournament like this ..."spare-making is key". So, my little blue ice storm spare ball got a good workout...LOL.

The bad side is that I NEVER really found an area or line to play that I felt relaxed about playing...and I will need some good breaks tomorrow if I am to do well.

Anyway...I better get some rest.... I at least want to be able to say that I did bowl up to the best I could,a nd was rested, etc ...regardless of the condition. "wish me luck :)"

(257, 263, 202)

Very happy with my bowling tonight. I had 2 splits on the entire night...but overall I was rolling the ball great. Honestly... I was very settled tonight..and kept telling myself to "Let Go...and Let God..and then ROLL the ball"... and it kept me both relaxed and confident on EVERY shot.

Crazy thing is that my team still got beat the first game and the last....sheeeesh. At some point I hope that EVERYONE is bowling well at the same time...LOL, otherwise we will get so far behind that we will not be able to catch up to the top half of the teams in the leaugue.

I also made money ($170) in the sidepots and brackets...so it was a great night for me.

I plan on bowling this weekend in the Fall Scratchfest Tournament...and hope I will be able to get a few good breaks...and also execute what little I do know. Wish me luck! :)
