Isom is dead on, more often it's the first description. Usually it's not the same for everyone, because ball reaction is all about matchup. For example someone might get a lot of over/under at Metro, but not at BZ Lilburn...and another bowler migh...
It's hard to describe...but I'll try :) Think of your starting position with the ball in front of you body. Instead of pushing the ball towards the target you let the ball just "drop". You hinge your swing at your elbow instead of extending your b...
I fought this when I was in my first couple of years bowling. The key is getting the swing "free", meaning let gravity do the work. The pros with really high backswings (Mike Fagan, Tommy Jones, Steve Harman) don't necessarily throw the ball hard ...
Yeah I think handicap is crucial to keeping league bowling alive. If enough 205 bowlers realize they have no chance against 230 bowlers at 90% of 210 they will quit and choke the sport out. I tried to explain this two years ago in a league meeting...
It completely depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you can make one of your current pieces fit that reaction with a redrill...then go that route. If one of your current pieces won't fit the reaction you are looking for...then a new pie...

More about you:
Not much interesting to talk about.....my wife and I just found out we have little one #2 on the way 10/15/08. I have been bowling a little over 10 years, only bowl 3 games a week now. Used to run a pro shop so I feel I know the game pretty well....just don't know how to execute anymore. Love the game and wish we could stop it from dying....tournament bowling is the only thing that keeps me going and in the game at all.
What's up Randy! You and Chad should come up and bowl sometime. We are trying to get things rolling again in our state. There is a tourney the Sat. nite before my next 2 tourneys in Greensboro at Gate City Lanes pays around $750 to win and he runs Kegel Sport Series patterns. My next to tournaments are at Belmont just north of Gastonia off of I-85 on Oct. 26th at 1:00 p.m. and Nov. 16th at Colonial Lanes in Hickory at 2:00 p.m. We guranteed $500 to win and $100 low to cash. We also have a sponsor for the bowler of the year prize fund- Brunswick. We are guaranteeing $1000 to win the points and 1-4 cash ratio on both the points race and each tourney. I'm posted onn Realbowlers, Allbowling, Bowling200, Bowling300, and myspace. Also got my bowling apparel line started. Oh Yeah, We also give a free entry to the winner of each tourney. The entry fee is $85, some think might be alittle high, But you really get alot for your money. If you want to get on our mailing list send me your address and your e-mail. I hope in the next couple of years that this tour will grow and become an alternative to bowling the regional tour for those that don't have the time or money to put in. Call me sometime . My number is 828-443-6666. Later.
Man, you are awesome...period! It was a great honor just for me to watch you bowl and to meet you. I am glad you came to the tournament, and yes - I agree - i wish more prople would have come out. But still - in my opinion, the best bowlers that walked through the door and "signed up" for this tournament (that I saw bowl) ... those same guys ended up at the top.
Thanks Randy... man... that shot makes me want to just throw my plastic ball at the pocket, and call it a day. Thanks again for the compliment, and I'll see you soon. I wish I could have watched YOU bowl yesterday since you were the only one out there that knew "how" to play the lanes!
Good to here fro you, Bill told me that he saw you in the bank in Monroe, but was not able to speak because you were working with someone. Still bowling on the monday night mens at 29. Some new faces with the closing of the AMF houses. But everythig is going well. Keep in touch. Clay
