first allow me to say thanks to all those that have replied to my post... the info that has been given has been very helpful....
i have been leauge bowling for about two years, aand i must say that i can see some improvements in my game( i went from a 125 bowler to a 190 bowler)... but there is still room for much much more....
i find myself shadow bowling alot, when i walking to and fore i go though the motions.... im very pleased with what i do without the ball.... but when i do have the ball im unable to do any of the things that i do without the ball.... i need to work on my release the most i think, at this point in my game.... how can i improve on my release.... i have tried different types( at least i call myself trying something new) postions and all seem to have the same affect.... or would a coach be the route i need to take( i had a coach once..... i think i was father along in my game then his level of coaching)
I would suggest a coach. The internet can be a fantastic source of information, however it is tough to diagnose the cause of swing problems and come up with solutions without seeing video.
My personal opinion, and I know there are some great coaches in this city, is that Richard Shockley is the best in the business. His resume speaks for itself, (Gold level USBC Certification) he was the head of instruction at the Kegel Training Center where he worked with the likes of Norm Duke, Jason Couch, Chris Barnes, and many others....
I second Richard. He worked with my college bowling team a couple of years back. Im glad you said his name because i couldn't think of it for the world. He really knows how to break things down to a level where you understand it. He also gives discounts for groups. We should get some people together. Couple of years back I believe it was $100 for almost a full day with video anaylsis and checking everything. Don't know what it would be now.
I help him out a little in his shop in Loganville, I'll see him Tuesday or Wednesday and talk to him about it and how much he charges for the different lesson packages. I know he is going back overseas in a few weeks for a year I believe, and I'll make sure I find out exactly how long he'll be here.
I have been around some great teachers of the game, and this city is full of them. From what I have seen he is the best from the ball return to the foul line in the business.
