Bowling 200 Community - Forums and Videos for bowlers

I was watching the PBA Tour this Sunday (Chameleon Championship - Machuga vs. Kretzer), and I heard Randy the announcer/bowler guy (lol) say, "Pro bowlers work the inside part of the ball...while amateurs work the outside part” He also said something about keeping the "elbows in" ...for the arm swing.

Can someone please explain?

I take it as most advanced bowlers come through the inside of the ball on release and let the motor and cover stock do what it was drilled to do.

Other bowlers try to create hook and come more to the outside if not around the ball. I am a prime example.

I used to think I had to go around the ball to get it to hook. Now I know that all I have to do is roll the ball and especially releasing from the inside it reacts more than me trying to get it to hook.

Thanks Steve. I am still a little lost with visualizing all of the bowling terms (over-under, axis points, etc), ... but that's how everything has been for me with bowling...lol. There are things that I am just now starting to understand ...but some info was told to me 10 or 12 months ago by Dannial and Lonnie ...hahaha.

Thanks again.

There is very good discussion about this over on the pba.com forum. The technique forums. http://forum.pba.com/ultimatebb.cgi?/ubb/get_topic/f/4/t/004032.html . Charlie Tapp (tappioca) is one helping explain.

Thanks everyone. I finally got the chance to get with Dannial Cohen... and He was able to show me what they were talking about on the PBA telecast. I guess sometimes you really have to "see" what is being explained or talked about. He used Tommy Jones as an example of a bowler that is a prime example.
