I rolled in the Midtown tournament yesterday, and before the tournament I got my infinite one sanded back down to 500 abralon, which is its out of box condition. My track has always been a good ways from the finger holes, but after I had it sanded and rolled it, I noticed that the first two rings of oil went through the middle finger hole and thumb hole. What are the negative affects of this? Also I didn't have any traction issues.

If your track has moved it means something in your release has changed slightly. If your track gets closer to your fingers/thumb (or over them) it usually means you are staying in the ball a little longer. This isn't necessarily bad, but it means your PAP has most likely moved, which you should make sure you address with your ball driller.

Ok thanks Randy. That is vital information, since I'm about to get a new ball. I have started throwing the ball differently.

I will give you this piece of advice to kind of contradict something I said earlier. There is one drawback to having a high track (tracking very close to/over fingers and thumb). This can create some small problems laying out equipment. With a very high track you are limited as to what layouts you can use, because some layouts will cause the ball to flare over the finger holes and keep the ball from hooking.

I would see if there are any grip adjustments you can make to get your hand out of the ball quicker, this could help lower your track and keep your new style intact.

Just a suggestion....your ball driller will know best though.

I have been told that my finger pitches need to be changed. The people that drilled my ball are no longer accessible and have not had a new ball in about 3-4 years. I am thinking of getting a couple of my balls redrilled for better fit, since I have problems with my fitting.

Finger pitches could be the problem, there are tons of things that could contribute to your hand staying in the ball too long. It could be a matter of grip or perhaps something in your release. I noticed you live in Jonesboro, since your old driller isn't accessible, go see if you can set up an appt to see Dannial Cohen in Stockbridge to have him help fix your problem. He is one of the best in the southeast and will be able to narrow down any problem you might have and help you fix it.
