How the hell do you get better????

I bowl in 5 leagues currently, in 5 different houses. It's likely I will average 230 in all 5 houses (maybe a little less at Cedar Creek, although it's a house shot, it's so over and under that it gives me trouble sometimes). Everywhere that you go, the lanes are easy and getting easier (as if they weren't easy enough).

With that said, how do you get better at this sport? Where do you go, to practice and challenge yourself? We complain that joe bowler can only play up 10 but when joe bowler walks in almost any alley thats where the shot is, up 10. So can we really blame him if that's all he really knows to do? Where can you practice where the conditions are challenging so that you can test yourself other than going to nationals etc or regionals... spending hundreds of dollars to bowl on shots that you have NEVER seen before only to get your head bashed in by people that have had much experience on similiar conditions?

Ok guys i talked to David the manager here at stockbridge.He is willing to put out these patterns very thursday starting next thursday.Rotating the pba patterns,usopen, and usbc pattern (once its released) every thursday.It will be $2 a game.Pinstrikes will be open at 11am and closing at 11pm.It will be done on the last 4 lanes.If you get here early you will be bowling on the fresh and later in day it will be broken down.if anybody has any questions about this give me a call or shhot me an email.770-480-0397 or [e-mail]

Hey Isom,

I know AFC has a special on Sunday mornings where from 10am to 1pm it is $10 all you can bowl. I know there are a ton of people there every week, and if they know ahead of time would be willing to put down patterns on a few pairs. You have to have a couple of people per lane, but if you get 4 on a pair you could easily get 20 games in during that time.

Message me and let me know if you want to do that, I can talk to Hodges and get it set up. I don't think I have practiced more than a couple of games in a few months, so maybe that would get my lazy ___ out of bed on Sundays :)

So whatz decided? I live 2 exits up from Stockbridge but willing to travel. I will bowl on Thurdays at Stockbridge and I don't mind going to AFC on Sunday when there's no tournaments running.

Start a sport shot or PBA Experience league. Alot of bowlers fell like you do even if they don't average 230. Here is an idea, since there are folks here in Atlanta, Charlotte and inbetween; create a TNBA/USBC Sanctioned Sport Shot travel league rolling once a month in Ga, Sc & NC. This would require dedicated bowlers and bowling centers that are will to be sport shot certified. I do mean sport shot, not just the PBA Patterns but also the Women's National, USBC Open, USBC Junior Gold, Team USA and all other sanctioned sport shots.

i go for that..... i tried a pba shot leauge over the summer, and fould that i have a lot of work to do.... i also go all over the city to practice but find that it really not helping me any.... so if you guys are serious about starting a travel league look me up....

I have rolled in a PBA Experience League the last 2 summers. I would really enjoy a competative winter league where I didn't only roll on the PBA shots but some of the other sport shots that are out there.
